Celebrate OZ - Altered OZ 2013

My goodness time is flying by so fast I nearly missed this wonderful event, Oma Linda's "Celebrate OZ - Altered OZ 2013" ~ my sweet friend over at Olde Baggs 'n Stuft Shirts holds an annual shin-dig celebrating all things OZ!  Fortunately I'm flying in just in time to participate.  Since things have been so hectic I've just got a short little post to share and a fun new theme that's perfect for the OZ lover ~

It boasts loads of elements from the new movie which I actually haven't had a chance to see yet but can't wait to!  I studied the online imagery a bit and tried to pick up some key aspects to this new (an visually stunning) OZ movie.  To view the new theme just click the title or image above and be sure to hope of over to Oma Linda's blog to find more wonderful Oz giveaways and goodies ~ here's the direction link for those of you using mobile devices: http://lindaomasoldebaggsnstuftshirts.blogspot.com/

New Themes ~ Nuptials & Garden Party

With all the extra work I've been doing lately; revamping blog themes, keeping up on custom orders, and working on challenges, it's been a struggle to get in here and post as much as I should.  So I'm happy when I do have something completed and ready to place in the spotlight. Today I'm focusing on a couple of new themes I recently created ~ Nuptials and Garden Party.

Nuptials just kind of fell in place with it's soft hues boasting an elegant yet natural wedding theme.  I love this color combination, they blend so beautifully together ~ I can't help but think of a beautiful afternoon in the countryside with flowing white chiffon.  And it's nice to finally have an addition to stand along side my Cherish theme which up until now was the only marriage theme I offered.

Garden Party was a different story in that I've had this theme in my mind's eye for quite awhile now.  I knew I wanted to create a theme that set a stage for some enchanted yet cozy event, filled with whimsical elements and adorned with glowing lanterns.  I'm really please with how these sets cam out and I hope you enjoy them too.

You can view all of the elements for each set by clicking on the titles or images above.

Enjoy~

Gypsy Dreams Blog Party

Well the day has finally arrived and I'm simply delighted to be a part of this fabulous event! It's the first annual Gypsy Dreams Blog Party and what fun it will be! I'm really looking forward to visiting all of the party-goer's blogs and share some of my own hidden gypsy dreams, so off we go~

From a very early age I was a magical spirit ~ I loved dressing up and letting my imagination whisk me away to enchanting places and when it came to dress up and fun, there's wasn't much I wouldn't try.

But you see, I've been a gypsy at heart since I was very young ~ wearing my scarves and beads I would sit and tell fortunes in my grandparent's living room.

Although time passed and my life has moved away from my gypsy dress up days, my heart is still filled with the dreams of creating magic and now I share that spirit of creation with all of you through my graphic designs.

So in honor of this wonderful new event, of which I'm sure there will be many more for years to come, I feel it's only fitting to have a spectacular giveaway and what's more fitting for a fabulous blog event than to share with you...

So for all of you fabulous gypsies out there who've signed up to participate and are listed on the sidebar of the Gypsy Dreams blog ~ leave a comment and you'll be entered to win.

And... if you're selected as the winner but already have one of my original custom blog themes, then you'll receive a gift certificate for the value of a theme ~ that's $65, to be spent on anything in my Etsy shop!

The giveaway will close at midnight on the night of the full moon (September 12th✻) and I will announce the winner in a follow up post here on my blog.

(✻Update: Gee this weekend flew by and I've only had a chance to visit a handful of party-goers so I'm extending the deadline for my own giveaway to Saturday, September 17th at midnight EST. Hopefully that will give us all more time to get around and follow up with a posting of the winner on Sunday.)

So good luck to all you lovely gypsies out there, thanks so much to Celia for hosting this wonderful event, and for all of you who are participating ~ I'm looking forward to jumping in my gypsy wagon and meeting up with you this weekend~

Gypsy Dreams Blog Party

Among the many custom orders I've had the pleasure of working on lately was this fabulous Gypsy Dreams Blog Party. The hostess was one of my previous customers, Celia of Adventures of the Striped Stockings.

Celia contacted me awhile back asking for something bohemian, magical, and incorporating elements mysteriously gypsy. I'm always up for a challenge and have to admit, I love, love, love the end result.

The blog party is taking place on September 10th and runs until the full moon. So won't you join me in letting your gypsy side loose for a day ~ either through a party, crafting, or just blogging ~ you can join in the exotic fun by visiting the Gypsy Dreams blog and leaving a comment. Be sure to grab one of the fabulous badges too so others can join in as well! See you there!

Mad Tea Party 2010 - finally!

This is the original post I wrote for the Mad Tea Party with blog theme and tutorials, now completed...

I know I've been naughty with not posting any handy tutorials or blog themes lately and there are always so many ideas rumbling around in my head - there's the summer theme with beach and tropical flowers or the patriot theme for July 4th, just around the corner... but you see I've just been so busy this summer spreading my wings as a social butterfly... there was last week's Where Bloggers Create and now today I'm attending the ~ The Mad Tea Party 2010! The great news is you're all invited too!!

Now the truth is I'm not one for balloons and streamers, little garden table-side settings and enchanting vintage tea sets - don't get me wrong, I love them - I just don't have those items readily available at my disposal so I've decided to join the party in my own way by presenting you with a goodie bag chocked full of fun in the form of a little tea party blog theme and tutorial!

So to begin, here is a lovely free blog theme titled....

Tea for Two
free - 2 column background code

free - 3 column background code

These backgrounds were created for use with the Blogger Minima templates. If you need help installing these backgrounds just click here to visit my helpful tutorial.

free - Blog Headers
Simply click on the images above to enlarge them to actual size and then right click to save to your computer. If you need assistance with installing a blog banner/header here's a helpful tutorial for that.

free - Decorative Tags
If you need assistance installing my decorative tags a helpful tutorial may be found by clicking here.

I also have to be honest and share that I'm doubling up on my social commitments because there's a story behind the enchanting tea themed images I used for this background. You see several months ago my dear friend and teammate Maggie of Magpie's Nest & Inspiration Avenue sent out a little invite to join in a Supplies for Tutorial exchange. All you had to do to participate was use some of her beautiful digital collage sheets from her etsy shop, Magpie Mine, in a tutorial and she would supply the sheets for free. Well, who could refuse the opportunity to get their hands on some of her gorgeous supplies so I signed up! And so a very special thanks goes out to Maggie of Magpie Mine for providing these gorgeous vintage collage sheets and for her immense patience in waiting for this tutorial♥

I would also like to extend a very special thanks to Vanessa of A Fanciful Twist, not only for holding this wonderfully Mad Tea Party and all the work that goes into having such an event but also for hosting one of the most enchanting blog I've had the pleasure of visiting in blogland. You've gotta love her eye candy!

And now before you scamper off to visit more of the beautiful blogs participating in this fantabulous MaD party don't forget your other favor... why, it's the tutorial I promised above... and what might that be you ask? Well, how about...

Where Bloggers Create II

I'm absolutely delighted to be participating in this year's Where Bloggers Create. Today is the big day were bloggers from around the globe share with their visitors the places where they create their magic. Now obviously most of my creative time is spent inside my little mind where images and designs are constantly whirling about but since I'm unable to give you a glimpse of that inner mess, I've decided to do my best to capture the inspirational locations where I create.

Although most of my visitors know me exclusively for my graphic designs I've spent much of the past five years working from home as a jewelry artist. Although I'm in the process of leaving a large portion of that behind as I move back into working with graphics full time, I do still work some with jewelry and so I am going to show where I work on jewelry AND where I work on my grahics.

The first work area is my computer desk...
I work from an antique desk which has been in my husband's family for many, many years. I couldn't live without the two monitors I use, although I remember not long ago when I was reluctant to add a 2nd monitor. Whether I'm cropping jewelry images or working on a new blog theme, Photoshop CS3 is my preferred software tool.

My co-workers...
My son, who attends cyber school from our home, sits just on the other side of my two monitors. He and our two cats are the best co-worker/companions I could ever ask for.

I'm never at a loss for inspiration....
On the shelves behind me sit the extensive collection of cards, letters, and gifts I've received from all the friends I've made in blogland over the past several years.
Sometimes it's utterly amazing to believe how many lives have crossed my path and touched my heart through blogging - most of whom I have never met in person - and I cannot imagine my life without the blessings each of them has left me.

The second area is my jewelry work desk...
I work from an old desk we purchased second hand from a local university. Here I am also surrounded by the inspiration of online friend's creations, their photographs, and personal notes as well as a selection of colorful beads, wires and baubles.

I'm immensely blessed and forever grateful for the gifts blogging and my travels through blogland have imparted in my life♥

And now, to say thank you for taking the time to visit and read about my little corner of the world, I will be giving away one of my original key holders...This particular key holder is my favorite and I've been holding it for this special occasion. The title is "Malika" and it has so many whimsical details to it (my personal favorite is the ornate dangling key).

All you need to do to be entered for a chance to win is leave a comment on this post. Be sure you leave a way for me to contact you in case you win, such as an email address or link to your blog. To give everyone enough time to visit and enter, I will hold this giveaway open until June 26th.

Good luck to everyone and as always...

Enjoy!
