Cool Summer Garden

Funny I haven't created a Treasury in ages and wound up making 2 just in the past week . I imagine it's because I've been spending so much time revamping my shop listings that it's just come with the territory, literally.  Whatever the case I created this new one today titled Cool Summer Garden~ it was a fitting delight from the early summer heat of the day.

More Newness

Just like my spring garden, we've got more newness popping up here at Plumrose Lane and that's in the form of some brand new blog themes (crowd goes wild!).*smile* These new themes are bursting with beauty and  gobs of intricate details... I love the darling little blue bird with patina-ed crown in Cotton Butterfly and how about those shells, feathers, and bones in Featherly? ~ sheer bohemian delight!

New Themes ~ Nuptials & Garden Party

With all the extra work I've been doing lately; revamping blog themes, keeping up on custom orders, and working on challenges, it's been a struggle to get in here and post as much as I should.  So I'm happy when I do have something completed and ready to place in the spotlight. Today I'm focusing on a couple of new themes I recently created ~ Nuptials and Garden Party.

Nuptials

Nuptials just kind of fell in place with it's soft hues boasting an elegant yet natural wedding theme.  I love this color combination, they blend so beautifully together ~ I can't help but think of a beautiful afternoon in the countryside with flowing white chiffon.  And it's nice to finally have an addition to stand along side my Cherish theme which up until now was the only marriage theme I offered.

Garden Party

Garden Party was a different story in that I've had this theme in my mind's eye for quite awhile now.  I knew I wanted to create a theme that set a stage for some enchanted yet cozy event, filled with whimsical elements and adorned with glowing lanterns.  I'm really please with how these sets cam out and I hope you enjoy them too.

A Sunflower

I was hoping to pull a few additional posts together this week but my resources just didn't pan out, so instead I'm posting a few photos of sunflowers from our garden.

Each year my son and I sit and plant sunflower seeds. It's something we've done ever since I can remember. It's his thing in the garden every year and I can't imagine our spring without it.

We've had a lot of mixed results through the years; from birds eating the seeds to squirrels running away with whole heads in their mouths. So it's usually a "hope for the best" while we hold our breath and wait. This year he had an especially successful crop and we couldn't be happier.

It means even more at this age ~ I guess because you don't expect a teenage boy man to sit down and plant seeds with you. That, and you don't know how many more springs he'll be doing it with you. So I guess it's just one of those treasures in life you take while you can get ~ kind of like that sunflower... you know sooner or later it will fade away but you'll always cherish it's beauty.

Time Away

I recently had to migrate over to a new computer and so that meant time away from my desk and work. Some of that time was spent out in the yard visiting with my garden and some napping neighbors on our front porch. Here are a selection of shots I captured from that time...

Around My House ~ week 2

Last week I was grasping for new material to post about and this little summer series "Around my House" was born. This week I've added a Mr Linky gadget so you can join in and share your own images from around the house.

This past week has been so hot that I wanted to share one of my favorite places to escape the sun. When we first moved into our home a little over a year ago there wasn't a railing around the front porch and so we came up with this natural barrier to block out our urban neighbors that seemed to be right on top of us.

My husband built the trellises and we planted Morning Glories and Sweet Peas from seeds his mom had gifted us before moving. The end result was a wonderfully lush spot to sit and admire a passing hummingbird or bees. I simply couldn't be happier with how it provided a nature barrier between us and... well a block of about 25 screaming children. *sigh*

Happy Weekend

Catching Up

My week of catch up has begun now that the hubby is off to his new job. His time at home with us wasn't all worry and stress though ~ after landing the new job, he got to work on that honey-do list I mentioned before and managed to scratch off a pretty big item for me...

He built another trellis for the front of our house and I just love it! We put one up last spring on the side of our front porch (pictured below) and the Sweet Peas & Morning Glories have really taken it over. Since we're not used to being city dwellers it serves as a lovely natural barrier between us and the neighbor's house that stands six feet away. The new trellis measures a whopping 8 x 8 feet so it's anchored directly into the base of our porch. I just can't wait to see it filled up with green foliage and sweet smelling flowers!

I have some new custom orders to share with you later in the week and I really need to find time to create that vintage back-to-school theme that's been rumbling around my mind. In the meantime I hope you all have a wonderful and safe week ~ stay dry & warm!
